About the talk

With any new industry, such as cannabis and hemp, the rollout of responsible regulations is an important first step. In the United States, each state has taken it's own approach to regulations with respect to sampling, testing, and reporting cannabis and hemp test results. This talk will highlight holes in regulations, the impacts these have on testing facilities, and examples of public health gains when regulations are done comprehensively.

Welcome everyone. Thank you for stopping by for a little chat today. I'm going to tell you maybe some stories from various states on regulations and the impact that they have on testing Labs some of the positive and definitely some of the negative so we'll get into it in and keep it informal so. Let's see how to work this who am I'm the Laboratory Director and Owner of a testing facility located in Denver Colorado. We've been around since the beginning of recreational also

2014 till about five years running now, Colorado is an interesting case study because they've been very conservative with their testing they've implemented one test at a time. So only mandatory was potency for the first year and then points and solvents been pussy song. It's micro. It's the the only state that I know of that's taking that approach most of the others California included have said on July 1st. These tests are required on January 1st. Everything else is re is required and because of the difference is we've been able to learn a lot about the intricacies of each of the

test types and the impact that regulations are going to have but we've been pretty successful. We've tested over a hundred and thirty maybe a hundred forty thousand different samples now and that does not test the samples so Our data sets are becoming pretty rich that we can now go back and leverage a lot of the data that we've acquired to see whether or not these regulations are working or not. So what we're going to talk about today are typical cannabis processing steps nothing that isn't too unfamiliar for most of you in the room and then we'll start to talk about
