Dr. Lupoi graduated summa cum laude from LaRoche College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in Chemistry, prior to earning a Ph.D from Iowa State University. There, Dr. Lupoi began evaluating plants with analytical tools such as spectroscopy, research that continued for two postdoctoral appointments for the University of Queensland/Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and the National Renewable Energy Lab.Before coming to RJ Lee Group (RJLG), Dr. Lupoi led research projects focused on modeling chemical properties from large data sets. These models were designed using spectroscopy coupled with analytical methods like chromatography, enabling high-throughput techniques for rapidly screening plant chemistry, including cannabis. At RJLG, among other roles, Dr. Lupoi serves as a technical expert, auditor, and consultant for the WSLCB and laboratories in Nevada.Dr. Lupoi is also the Editor-in-Chief of both Terpenes and Testing Magazine and Extraction Magazine, positions that have allowed him to combine several passions, including helping the masses geek out over cool science. In 2018, Dr. Lupoi led a class for the Osher Lifelong Learning Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh that taught basic cannabis science to senior citizens.Dr. Lupoi considers true living to include spending time with his wife and cats, brewing and drinking hop-laden or sour beers, jamming to metal/reggae/funk, and reading Hunter S. Thompson, yet again.View the profile
As President of ACS Laboratory I am ensuring that accuracy, transparency, and customer service are paramount to our testing lab. As an ISO 17025 , CLIA, and more certified lab, we strive for the highest accuracy for medical cannabis testing as well as CBD products made from hemp. Without standards, compliance measures and proper science, cannabis testing would be a guessing game and pose numerous threats to the industry. Ensuring the end consumer receives a safe, non-harmful product through third party independent laboratory testing is vital to any operating cannabis business. There have been dozens of examples of tainted products, purposefully or not, that reached consumers hands by lack of standards, testing and other shortcomings throughout the overall process. Moving forward ACS Laboratory’s focus is to continue to support and enhance the ability for cannabis companies and brands to deliver clean, safe products and do so in a manner that promotes positive standards throughout the industry.View the profile
Dr. Kimberly Ross earned her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado’s Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology program, where her work focused on the evaluation of DNA-based pathogen detection methods in comparison with traditional culture-based microbial testing routinely conducted by the drinking water quality industry.Based on a professional background at the intersection of genomics and analytical chemistry, Dr. Ross contributes a broad understanding of methodology appropriate for cannabis testing and the future of genomic applications for cannabis analytics, with several years of direct experience under current state-mandated analytical and microbial testing programs. She has assisted several Cannabis laboratories in attaining ISO 17025 accreditation, and continues to offer consulting services to new and existing labs seeking to upgrade to an ISO-compliant Quality Management System. She is a contributing member of ASTM’s D37 Committee for development and maintenance of standards for cannabis and its products and processes, a participant in the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division’s cannabis regulatory workgroups, an invited guest speaker for Qualtrax compliance software webinars, and is a regular contributor to several technical publications serving the cannabis science industry, including Terpenes and Testing.View the profile

The good news for you is that this is a small audience which means you guys are going to be able to ask a lot of questions and I don't think the panel would object at all to changing up the format because we have an intimate group. So make sure that if you have a question, even while the panelists are speaking if there is a thought that you have a question that you have to raise your hand a little bit and I'll try to integrate you into the discussion cuz it's a small enough group that we can manage that really organically during the topic. I'm Catherine Sidman. I'm from
Cascade Sciences. I love to sell equipment. If you need anything, let me know about it's my favorite thing. I'm super excited to be here and talking about something much more esoteric, but not at all less important than equipment. We're talking about data and what that is and how important it is. I cannot introduce these folks nearly as well as they can do for the So I'm going to start out. I'm right here with Kim and have the panel just go down and introduce themselves. Hi, audience. My
name is Kimberly Ross. I'm a Compliance Officer at Peak Compliance. We help Laboratories achieve and maintain compliance with the ISO 17025 standard in cannabis. Hi, I'm Shannon Swantek. I was the first Oregon cannabis laboratory Accreditation Manager and I was on the rule’s committees creating some of this first lists I now help Labs come up with a method of 17025. I mostly help license holders work with their Laboratories and ask for what they need, and I'm also helping processors come up with GMP compliance and 9001.
