About the talk
With the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp cultivation is thriving, as hundreds of companies seek to generate cannabidiol (CBD) and other benecial phytomolecules without the legal limitations surrounding tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabis. In addition to the panoply of therapeutic applications, hemp is useful as an alternative dietary supplement, in the textile industry, and in building materials like hempcrete. While many of these applications were succinctly summarized by Jack Herer over 30 years ago, governmental policy restricted hemp cultivation and downstream research and development. Now, hemp is, once again, a massive contributor to the surging global interest in plant-based therapies and other applications. Given the nascent return to legalized hemp and so many wanting a chunk of the pie, a rm grasp of state-specic regulations is paramount to staying compliant and staying open. But you needn't be a cryptographer or a master of the zodiac to point you in the compliant direction. This panel regards the cultivation of hemp to produce CBD for extraction, and a more digestible condensation of vital laws and regulatory code.
